NRA: Helping the Terrorists

It’s bad enough that the Bush administration is so beholden to the “Use National Guard Tanks for Target Practice” wing of the NRA that one of the attorneys fired as a part of Gonzo-gate was canned because he complained about FBI foot-dragging in regard to the murder of a colleague who happened to be a gun control advocate. Now we’re presented with a case where the NRA’s advocacy directly harms national security. How so, you ask? Well, there’s this little known bill working its way through Congress at the moment that would prohibit terrorism suspects from purchasing guns. If these would-be terrorists hadn’t been stopped when they were, and this law were in place, they would’ve been stopped when they tried to buy weapons - a sort of extra layer of security. And yet, the NRA is apparently okay with allowing terrorism suspects to buy weapons. Must explain why that radical militia in Alabama was able to get their hands on so many weapons in their aborted attempt to commit terrorism against Mexican immigrants. Oh, wait. Righties don’t consider violence against liberals, Muslims or Hispanics “terrorism.” Silly me.

Incidentally, the Malkinites have been spending the day hailing the roundup as a victory for the Stasi John D’oh Brigade while simultaneously engaging in this:

It should be noted for the record that the video store worker whose tip launched the whole investigation was going on actions, not racial stereotypes.
