Kiss of Death
You gotta love Texas politics sometimes. It seems like every odd year, we vote on amendments to the state constitution. Last time, it was the amendment criminalizing homosexuality banning gay marriage. This year, among 15 other propositions to be voted on is one that has been endorsed by none other than local hero Lance Armstrong - 7-time Tour de France winner. The proposition in question, Prop. 15, would establish a state cancer research center, “[authorizing] up to $3 billion in state general revenue bonds to fund cancer research, prevention, early detection and control programs.”
Normally, something that has the Lance Armstrong Official Stamp of Approval™ would be expected to enjoy fairly broad popular support, even in spite of the protests of opposition groups. However, one factor has emerged recently that virtually guarantees that Prop. 15 will go down in flames: it has the endorsement of Gov. Goodhair.
Why oh why can’t Governor 30% Approval leave well enough alone?
