Joe-das Iscariot

Those thirty pieces of silver must be weighing down Lieberman’s pocket:

NAPOLITANO: Hey Sen. Lieberman, you know Barack Obama, is he a Marxist as Bill Kristol says might be the case in today’s New York Times? Is he an elitist like your colleague Hillary Clinton says he is?

LIEBERMAN: Well, you know, I must say that’s a good question. I know him now for a little more than three years since he came into the Senate and he’s obviously very smart and he’s a good guy. I will tell ya that during this campaign, I’ve learned some things about him, about the kind of environment from which he came ideologically. And I wouldn’t…I’d hesitate to say he’s a Marxist, but he’s got some positions that are far to the left of me and I think mainstream America.

Because in Slummy Joe’s world, he IS the center (of the universe). Even when there’s no one to the right of him.

McCain and the Media’s Stockholm Syndrome: Exhibit #12309747896-A2

McCain blasts the “librul” media as a bunch of ungrateful traitorous curs for the crime of revealing Bush’s contempt for the rule of law, they reward him with doughnuts.

I don’t know about you, but to me that sounds like co-dependency bordering on Stockholm Syndrome proportions.

Anyone here STILL think the presstitutes have a liberal bias? I didn’t think so.

Your “Librul” Media: A Preview

Sen. Eight Houses will be on Hardball Soft, Chocolate Salty Balls tomorrow night. Here’s my quick preview of how that’s going to go:

SENATOR EIGHT HOUSES: My friends, Sen. Obama is an elitist, out-of-touch America-hater pinko-commie whose wife and pastor are filled with hatred of America, Mom, apple pie and puppies!

TWEETY: Fair enough! HAH!

STUDENT 1: Sen. McCain, how do you propose to keep the Dhimmicraps from interfering with our God-given rights to hate gays, Muslims and liberals?

SEN. EIGHT HOUSES: [Long, rambling twaddle about “freedom” and “democracy” that ends with the need to “bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb bomb Iran” and somehow includes the phrases “smoke ‘em out” and “dead or alive.”]

TWEETY: Fair enough! HAH!

STUDENT 2: Sen. McCain, you’ve said we need to stay in Iraq for 100 years. Given the-

SEN. EIGHT HOUSES: I didn’t say that!

STUDENT 2: You didn’t? Oh, I’m sorry. I must be mistaken. I had the wrong senator in mind.

TWEETY: Fair enough! HAH!

STUDENT 3: Senator, you say you support the troops, but why do you oppose the new GI benefits bill being proposed by the Democrats?

TWEETY: HEY! Security! Get that heckler outta here! [Quite audible sounds of a scuffle as police swarm the “heckler,” complete with a plaintive “Don’t tase me, bro!” before the student does the UCLA Worm as 100,000 volts is repeatedly applied to his testicles every 1.5 seconds.] Fair enough! HAH! That’s all the time we have for this edition of Soft, Chocolate Salty Balls. Join us again tomorrow when we question Sen. Obama’s Christian upbringing and Sen. Clinton’s heterosexuality. Fair enough! HAH! That other show by some sportscaster who gets better ratings than me starts now.

Essential Reading

John Cole on Obama’s “elitist” comments (via the fine folks at Sadly, No!):

[Bunch of evidence showing Rove and the Bushies exploiting the common scapegoats of those facing economic uncertainty - Ed.]

You can go to the census bureau and look at the state rankings for unemployment, per capita income, persons below poverty level, health insurance, etc., and look at where these states ranked. Any guesses?

Again, this may be the elitist in me, but I am thinking you all can put this together on your own with the information I have given you. If a dumb rube like me can put this together and figure out that what Obama said is not only true in the anecdotal sense, but as far as actual numbers and facts go, certainly the alleged “progressives” leaping to seize some sort of advantage for Hillary can figure that out, as well. Which makes their smearing of Obama the past 24 hours all the more depressing.

And really, I have been brief. I just picked gay marriage because it was a glaringly obvious choice. You could go through the list of bullshit they churn up to keep you preoccupied- immigration, the war on Christmas, etc., and do this over and over again. No wonder they feel the need to destroy Obama. He really is a threat to the status quo.

Strangely enough, it wasn’t elitist when Teflon John “Eight Houses” McCain said it back in December. But, then, that doesn’t exactly fit The Narrative™, does it? It’s the Democrats that are elitist, don’cha know?

Former Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) is struggling a bit to adjust to life as a lobbyist.

“I took the Metro for the first time,” Lott told the Sleuth Thursday afternoon in the makeup room of MSNBC, where he and his new lobbying partner, former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.), were fixin (as Lott says) to do a TV segment.

“He’s been standing in front of his house waiting for his car and driver,” laughed Breaux from the makeup chair, adding with a tinge of a low-country twang, “He’s learning how to hail a cab.” (Read: HAY-ul a cab.)

Life in the private sector isn’t as cushy as Lott thought it would be. No more free lunches, no more taxpayer-funded car and driver, no more overprotective press secretary guarding him from the pesky media.

*snip*

Lott really had no idea how to even go about taking public transportation. He didn’t know how to use the Metro fare card machines, or how much money to put on his trip ticket, or how to add money to one of the fare cards his wife gave him. Truly: clueless.

Keep trying, Rethugs. Throw enough shit against the wall, and surely something will stick! And it should be a helluva lot easier with the “librul” media verbally fellating Teflon John 24/7.

Addendum: I forgot to mention some of the comments the Balloon Juice regulars have been making on the story that make the point better than I ever could.

Adam Says:

3 out of 3 CNN pundits agree with you, John. [Note: Watch poor Wolfie try to spin this in Sen. Eight Houses’ favor in the linked video. Pure comedy gold! - Ed.]

THAT MAKES YOU AN ELITIST

TR Says:

Great clip, Adam. Nice to see some actual sense breaking through at CNN.

Toobin’s angle is the right pushback—a guy from a single-parent home, who was a community organizer in Chicago? He’s the elitist? Really? Not the guy who’s second wife is a billionaire beer heiress? Not the former First Lady who’s worth $100 million?

OK, then.

[Italics mine - Ed.]

PaulB Says:

That’s the sad thing about our political discourse—that a bit of common sense like this is somehow a gaffe that needs to be trumpeted 24/7, ignoring the very real issues that Obama is trying to raise.

[That’s the New Media™ rule, Paul: Common sense is only a gaffe when spoken by a Democrat. - Ed.]
