Stephen Colbert is t3h b0mbz0rz!

Not only did he give an outstanding interview to Rep. Patrick Murphy (D — PA) — the only veteran of Bush’s Quagmire to serve in Congress; he also rightly mocked ABC for their sham of a mockery of a debate.

But the icing on the cake was the presence of Sens. Clinton, Obama and Edwards.

Sen. Clinton came on early with a funny sketch where she proceeded to “fix a technical glitch” with one of the studio props — the giant telescreen that was behind Colbert.

Later on, John Edwards came on to give a special edition of The Wørd, known as “The EDWørdS“.

Finally, at the end of the show, Sen. Obama appeared in order to put manufactured media distractions “On Notice”:

And hilarity ensued.

Shorter Michael Hirsh:

The Democrats’ Wimp Factor

  • Watch me compare Sen. Obama to Sen. Kerry, and then snidely suggest that Democrats are incapable of being manly men, and this is why we need to elect John McCain.

Note to Our Media Betters™: This is getting patently ridiculous. You’ve dropped all pretense of objective journalism, and are now openly cheerleading for the Republicans by this obsessive focus on tawdry trivia. For the love of Pete, if you’re not going to get serious and focus on the issues that REALLY matter to Americans, then just SHUT UP.

UPDATE: Oh, dear God. Make the stupid stop!

He’s talking critically about his opponent, Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, and the kind of distasteful gotcha politics that occur in Washington. And he says, "That’s all right. Sen. Clinton looked in her element."

Watch the video right then. The presidential candidate raises his right hand to seemingly scratch his cheek.

He doesn’t use his whole hand though. Just one finger. Briefly. A couple of strokes.

in Politics; Japan In Focus

The Buddhist monks at Zenkoji Temple in Nagano, Japan have decided to take a stand on China’s human rights abuses in Tibet. They are refusing to allow the famous temple to be used as the starting point for the Japanese leg of the Olympic torch world tour.

Good for them. China had been hoping to use the Olympics as a PR coup, but it’s turned into a real PR nightmare for the communist country. Which makes the recent crackdown in Tibet all the more idiotic on their part. They knew the world would be watching closely, yet they went all Miniluv anyway. Idiots.
