Labels for thee, but not for me!

More from the Palin/McRove interview with Brian Williams:

WILLIAMS: Senator, you recently talked about the liberal feminist agenda in America, vis-a-vis the attacks on Governor Palin.

Sen. McCAIN: Mm-hmm, yeah.

WILLIAMS: Governor, are you a feminist?

PALIN: I’m not going to label myself anything, Brian. And I think that’s what annoys a lot of Americans, especially in a political campaign, is to start trying to label different parts of America, different backgrounds, different — I’m not going to put a label on myself.

Okay, so you won’t apply a label to yourself (even though you eagerly labeled yourself a “feminist” when it was Katie Couric doing the asking), but you’re perfectly willing to brand your opponent with whatever label is handy? Way to be consistent there, Governor!

Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge

You’d think that given the mounting evidence of Brian Williams’ biases, Governor Palin would be as open with him as she is with perennial lobber-of-softballs-at-conservatives Sean Hannity. Sadly, no. Just watch what happens when Williams asks her if people who bomb abortion clinics are terrorists:

Notice how she filibusters for about two minutes on how Obama is an evil America-hater because he once was in the same room as Bill Ayers before hedging, saying that although what they do is deplorable, it’s not terrorism. She does this every time Williams presses her on the point — which is to say, twice.

Well, gee, ain’t that conveeeenient, Governor? What, it’s not terrorism when your side does it? Don’t you realize what kind of message that sends to every Eric Rudolph with a pipe bomb out there? Sweet Zombie Jesus, Governor, THINK for once in your goddamn life! Do you really want the blood of the women and doctors who will be killed by your cavalier partisan hackery on your hands, Governor?

If you needed any more proof as to why this woman must not be elected to the second highest office in the land, here it is.

Is it November 4th yet?

Theodore Roosevelt: Socialist

We stand for a living wage. Wages are subnormal if they fail to provide a living for those who devote their time and energy to industrial occupations. The monetary equivalent of a living wage varies according to local conditions, but must include enough to secure the elements of a normal standard of living—a standard high enough to make morality possible, to provide for education and recreation, to care for immature members of the family, to maintain the family during periods of sickness, and to permit a reasonable saving for old age.

Theodore Roosevelt: “A Confession of Faith,” an address originally delivered to the national convention of the Progressive party in Chicago on August 6, 1912.

My, how far we have fallen.

Stalkin’ Malkin:

Umm…Michelle? Reality’s here to poke a hole in your hermetically-sealed bubble:

Besides a few shellings, there was no serious retaliation for the Beirut bombing from the Americans. In December 1983, U.S. aircraft attacked Syrian targets in Lebanon, but this was in response to Syrian missile attacks on planes, not the barracks bombing.

[…]

Amal militia leader Nabih Berri, who had previously supported U.S. mediation efforts, asked the U.S. and France to leave Lebanon and accused the U.S. and France of seeking to commit ‘massacres’ against the Lebanese and creating a “climate of racism” against the Shia. Islamic Jihad phoned in new threats against the MNF “pledging that ‘the earth would tremble’ unless the MNF withdrew by New Year’s Day 1984.

The Marines were moved offshore where they could not be targeted. On February 7, 1984, President Reagan ordered the Marines to begin withdrawal from Lebanon. This was completed on February 26, four months after the barracks bombing; the rest of the Multinational Force was withdrawn by April.

Yep. Your hero St. Ronnie “Red Ink” Raygun delivered an anemic response and then “cut and run” from Lebanon! So STFU about “libruls” being the ones who refuse to “defend America.”

Vigilante “Justice”

Suspicious powder found at New York Times building. No word yet as to whether or not Melanie Morgan’s fingerprints were found on the envelope.

Seriously, what is it about fake anthrax that makes it the favored tactic of conservative terrorists these days?

So…On Friday, some wingnut blog linked to several of my posts about the Graeme Frost Stalking Incident™. I didn’t think anything of it at the time. But then I saw this in the comments of a post from May about McCain’s connection to Rev. Rod “America’s sole purpose is to stuff all Muslims in a human-sized microwave” Parsley:

As a 12-yo In 1969 while lying very drugged out after being abused by some high class (sic) paedophiles in a CIA run paedophilia blackmail-op I-was listening to Sumner Redstone & Werner Von-Braun & the only G-Bush you know that worked for CIA at the time & they were literally talking of nuking an American city & then blaming Muslim terrorists who at the time didn’t even exist because CIA was yet to create them… You can ignore this or store it in the crazy file or just take it serious because I-heard it first hand & again heard a similar discussion six months later & many similar ones in the twenty years after… Please stop…

Umm…dude…

What…

the…

FUCK?!

Seriously. When you’re telling these little stories? Here’s a good idea — have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!

McCain Campaign’s “Thug Thizzle”

As punishment for the crime of letting Democrats vote in Ohio, conservatives hack the Sec. State’s website, and then send fake anthrax.

Sounds like a familiar pattern. A very familiar pattern. I’d put out a call for the likes of Malkin to condemn this sort of crap, but I know better. I’ve long since disabused myself of the notion that the right will ever feel any shame over the violence they incite on a fairly regular basis.

Making “Arab” a slur…

This column in the local fishwrap by Sylvia Shihadeh dovetails nicely with Colin Powell’s point that anti-Muslim/anti-Arab bigotry is detrimental to our ability to merely function as a society consisting of diverse demographic groups. Read the whole thing.
