The best argument against torture…

…comes from SpecOps soldiers who did things the right way and who have witnessed torture firsthand. (Take THAT, Lord of the Loofahs!)

Pardon?

Via Drudgico*:

Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) hasn’t yet joined the gallery of notorious felons, small-time crooks and aggrieved innocents seeking pardons from President Bush, but it appears he’ll have the support of some of his soon-to-be-former colleagues if he does.

“He has served this country for over 50 years,” said Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah), a widely respected member of the Judiciary Committee. “I think most anybody would probably say, ‘Yeah, he should be [pardoned].’ I think most anybody would say it’s fair to say that.”

[…]

For Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), the case for a pardon for Stevens has already been laid out. It’s all right there in a letter that Stevens’ lawyers sent to Attorney General Michael Mukasey — one in which they laid out their allegations of prosecutorial misconduct before and during his trial.

I guess “no man is above the law” only applies when a Democratic POTUS is getting a blowjob from an intern. But then again, we knew that already, didn’t we?

While we’re on the subject…

You know what the difference between Canada’s left-wing parties and America’s is? Canada’s have managed to develop… *Drama Sting* Testicles of Terror! (© 2008, JJ)

Case in point: during recent discussions for forming a coalition government to topple Stephen Harper’s bag of nuts that calls itself a government, the Conservative Party did some potentially illegal wiretapping. Well, the NDP-Liberal caucusers who were at that meeting have decided to get the RCMP involved in investigating the incident. What did our co-dependent “librul” party do when something similar happened to them? Abso-fraggin-lutely NOTHING.

Perhaps the NDP could give our Dems some lessons in *ahem* testicular fortitude.

Man, I should’ve invested in popcorn futures!

Canada’s left-leaning parties — the Liberals and the New Democratic Party — are preparing to take down Stephen Harper’s minority Conservative government with a no-confidence vote and form a coalition government. The situation has gotten interesting enough that it’s caused Canada’s Governor-General Michaëlle Jean to interrupt her European tour to deal with it.

Background is available here.

Naturally, the Blogging Tories, Canada’s answer to Pajamas Media, are up in arms over the developments, flinging talking point feces all over the wingnutosphere*. That’s always entertaining.

Even better is my Canadian blogging pen-pal JJ’s amusement at American liberals taking notice of the perpetual-motion Schadenfreude machine that is the Harper government.

Fun times, indeed.

Al Qaeda Condemns "Unfair" Pro-Obama Press Bias

Global reactions to Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri’s controversial condemnation of U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama as a "House Slave" (or, alternatively, "House Negro") have begun to pour in — including via the top jihad web forums used by Al-Qaida to disseminate its propaganda. Though hardcore Al-Qaida supporters have predictably dismissed any criticism of Dr. al-Zawahiri and are fiercely backing his choice of words, there is a rather ironic (if not entirely unfamiliar) twist to this issue. After observing international press reporting on the incident, these same supporters are now bitterly attacking the media for its "unfair" pro-Obama bias and for deliberately "confusing" the meaning of al-Zawahiri’s message.
