Never let a good opportunity for naked Islamophobia go to waste.*
Case in point, Neal Boortz, who is using the pirate attack on the Maersk Alabama to drum up hatred against Muslims, complete with putting the word “Muslim” in all caps every time he uses it:
Here’s the scenario. We have some MUSLIM pirates holding an AMERICAN merchant marine captain hostage on a small boat off the coast of the ungoverned country of Somalia. There’s a nuclear powered American guided missile destroyer nearby. A show of weakness … in other words, no action … will encourage the MUSLIM pirates. What do you think Obama will do? Perhaps he’ll be flown out to the destroyer so that he can deliver a symbolic bow to the pirates from the bridge.
By the way … isn’t this what the Navy Seals are for?
Neal Boortz: pro-genocide troll. Seriously. This post has all the maturity of an adolescent haXX0r, and is just as destructive. Now, in the short run, he may be onto something with the SEALs, but in the long run, the problem of piracy off the coast of Somalia won’t be solved by military force alone. We need to find a way to stabilize Somalia so that there’s less incentive to resort to piracy. Naturally, such a rational, nuanced solution is seen as “symbolic dhimmitude” in the eyes of people like Neal “Bomb Muslim countries now, bomb Muslim countries later, bomb Muslim countries some more and then when all the Muslims are dead try to ask a question or two” Boortz.
Just think folks, this asshat used to be a lawyer.
