Terrbile News

Sen. Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

Expect wingnut schadenfreude and inappropriate jokes about Sen. Kennedy being a malignant brain tumor in 5…4…3…2…1…

Update (May 20, 2008, 16:44): Wow… that didn’t take long. According to Pam Spaulding over at Pandagon (and gordo at The Liberal Avenger), those oh-so-tactful-and-rational-non-haters at LibrulFreiRepubliKKK — the very same people who posted the address (among other things) of the Chuy’s manager who carded Jenna Bush — had to pull several threads because of the sheer torrent of hate and glee directed at the Massachusetts senator.

Note To Iran Hawks*:

Not every situation in the Middle East requires your patented approach of “Bomb Muslim countries first, bomb Muslim countries later, bomb Muslim countries some more and then when all the Muslims are dead try to ask a question or two.”

* By “Iran Hawks,” I mean The Most Holy George W. Christ The Infallible, Senator Eight Houses, Senator Joseph Iscariot Lieberman, and the members of the Meir Kahane Fan Club who gleefully cheered Bush’s smear of Obama.

Waging War on the Cheap

Via MSRNC:

U.S. aims to ‘re-Americanize’ Afghanistan

Because "Afghanistanization" has worked soooooo well thus far.emoticonemoticonemoticon

Sidebar: Sometimes I wonder if Bush is running this war as if he were playing the “Bean Counter Challenge” for X-COM.

Who admires American terrorists, Newt?

Certainly not Obama, who denounced Ayers’ actions from forty years ago (when Obama was EIGHT YEARS OLD!).

SEN. OBAMA: George, but this is an example of what I’m talking about.

This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who’s a professor of English in Chicago, who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He’s not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.

And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn’t make much sense, George.

If we were to use the hot air that passes for “logic” from Newt Gingrich, here’s a list of American terrorists that the right wing of the Republican party “kind of adores”:

Do I really need to go on?

Mirror, Mirror

Human Muppet Newt Gingrich, the thrice-married persecutor of Bill Clinton, sticks the shiv into Nancy Pelosi’s back (via Huffington Post by way of Crooks and Liars):

The left wing of the Democratic Party, frankly, kind of admires American terrorists.

You know, if the Mirror Newt were brought to our universe, here’s what he’d say:

The right wing of the Republican Party, frankly, kind of admires pedophiles.

So Newt? Fuck you. No, seriously. Fuck you.

Wal-Mart. Always low humanity. Always.

Not to trivialize the contributions of Keith Olbermann and the liberal blogosphere to Wal-Mart’s accidental display of mere humanity, but I did want to point out one element of the Wal-Mart vs. Jim and Debbie Shank travesty that hasn’t been touched upon as much. That element is the fact that, in addition to the bad PR the pressure from Olbermann and the liberal blogs provided, Wal-Mart’s decision to acquiesce to their vestigial sense of decency came after the Supreme Court declined to hear the Shanks’ case, leaving intact the retail giant’s successful lawsuit against the couple. While I would be remiss to suggest that the court case was the primary motive for Wal-Mart’s decision, especially considering that the evidence points elsewhere, I can’t ignore the fact that the case sets up the precedent that it’s okay in the eyes of the law for large companies with legions of well-heeled lawyers to so totally and egregiously ratfuck their employees like that. And it’s hard to believe that such Catbertian considerations didn’t occur to Wal-Mart executives at some point during this incident.

It’s the sort of thing that gives “ambulance-chasing” a whole new meaning.

Moreover, Glenn Beck’s reaction to the case is both reprehensible and revealing. Reprehensible in the sense that he’s actually defending Wal-Mart’s position on this on principle, and that he resorts to blatant lies, misinformation and outright character assassination to do so. Revealing in the sense that it shines a light on just how deeply conservatives hold the “mythical little guy” in contempt.

They shall Stone them with Stone(s)*

Sweet Zombie Jesus, does the ratfucking ever end with this asshole? And as dday points out, this blowhard has had a history with Spitzer(Swallows) — going so far as to threaten the former governor’s father.

It’s the sort of thing that makes one wonder: what sort of grudge did he hold against Spitzer, that he was willing to go so far as to subvert an FBI investigation to do his dirty work for him? I guess questioning Obama’s patriotism, setting up an anti-Hillary 527 with a blatantly misogynist acronym and threatening Spitzer’s father wasn’t enough. He just had to give the former governor a good Rogering, as it were.

Perhaps its time someone did some digging for skeletons in Mr. Stone’s closet. After all the ratfucking he’s done to various Democrats over the years, he’s got a Nimitz-class carrier’s worth of karmic comeuppance coming to him.

Meh.

That’s how I felt about Keith’s special comment last night. But that’s only because, as he had warned at the start of the special comment, that it was mostly a remix of his previous special comment. Even so, I liked that Olbermann openly called Resident Bush a fascist. About time someone in the “librul” media called a spade a spade.

And no, Jonah, Olbermann didn’t call Resident Bush a liberal.
