Dialing the Crazy up to 11

Just when you thought that Toilet Paper Rationing Lady™ couldn’t be topped, here comes a Teabagger (and apparent Glenn Beck fan) at Sen. Bob Corker’s town hall claiming that Obama’s a racist Nazi who wants to forcibly abort all Honky fetuses.

No, seriously.

Here’s the report from Memphis’ CBS affiliate WREG:

A woman carrying a baby stood to tell the crowd about her husband and five children. The crowd cheered after she said her husband works hard to pay for his family’s own health insurance. “Because he’s white, because he considers the Constitution the law of the land, we are now considered terrorists in our own country.” She expressed concerns that health care reform could lead to nurses coming into homes, forcing women to have abortions.

“We’re considered domestic terrorists, everyone in this room, in the eyes of our own government, if someone gives the word we could all be rounded up,” she concluded as the crowd cheered again.

“A bill that gives the government the ability to come into people’s homes … is not a bill I will ever consider supporting,” responded Senator Corker.

I swear that I’m going to get a concussion from frequent facepalming if T3h Stoopid™ doesn’t stop soon.

Give ‘em hell, Keith!

In tonight’s Special Comment, Keith takes on those who would stoke violence against Democrats for the crime of (lamely) trying to fix the broken health care system in this country.

As usual, this one is full of win.

Oh, fer cryin’ out loud…

The angry, angry Left

Just another “ordinary citizen”, merely expressing his opinion.

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along. emoticon

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,/ Slouches towards Houston to be born?*

If you want to get an insight into the origins of the teabaggers and their Town Hall Putsches, you can’t do much better than this column by Stephen Pizzo, who covered the 1992 Republican National Convention in Houston, Texas (scene of Pat Buchanan’s infamous “Culture War” speech). I have reproduced the full text below the fold.**

Who’s the thug now?

This is your baby, Michelle Malkin. OWN IT.

BY THE WAY: Sen. John Cornyn says that we’re not allowed to complain about the death threats his party’s supporters send to politicians or public interest organizations. ‘Cause that’s un-American, don’cha know.

So, yeah… About Michelle Malkin…

It seems that I was a bit hasty in my assessment of her earlier comments. In spite of being told that “counter-insurgency” doesn’t mean what she thinks it means, she keeps using it to describe the Teabagging Brownshirt movement.

What this suggests to me is that far from being outright stupid, Malkin is being mendacious. She truly believes that in spite of the drubbing her party took in the election last year, Obama is ineligible to rule simply by virtue of his being a Democrat. That somehow, in spite of all evidence, the Republicans represent the rightful government of the United States and that all Democrats are usurpers who stole power in a coup d’etat. Therefore, in her mind, anything goes in an effort to regain control of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

This dovetails perfectly with the Birther movement. The Birthers also believe that “the uppity [insert racial slur]” occupying the White House is an unconstitutional interloper for the crime of winning an election while being a black liberal moderate. In the utopia envisioned by both Malkin and the Birthers, Democrats would be legally barred from holding elected office.

This sort of rhetoric is not only nakedly partisan, but borders on eliminationist. It’s the sort of thing that leads to assassinations and civil wars. It’s dangerous, and if Malkin and the Birthers had any sense of propriety or shame, they’d put a stop to it post haste. But as we saw in the Chad Castagana case and the UC Santa Cruz case, that ain’t happening any time soon.

And so, we inch ever closer to midnight on the Civil War 2.0 clock.

The Thug Thizzle of the… Left?

Far-right blogger Bookworm belches, farts, picks his crotch, and stands up to tell us who the real thugs are:

Bottom line: We have a representative democracy in which our elected representatives want us to keep our mouths shut. They think we’re stupid, shrill and easily led. I hope that, come this this November and every other November, voters remember the low esteem in which their own public servants hold them.

And in case you missed it, he spells it out in more detail in an update, with an assist from Stalkin’ Malkin (more on her in a later post):

Michelle Malkin neatly makes the point about the difference between mob rule (a distinctly left wing phenomenon, although not unique to the Left) and civic participation (a distinctly right wing phenomenon, although not distinct to the Right).

Right. I suppose this is what you mean by “civic participation”? Or any of the things mentioned in this post? Or this, for that matter?

Or maybe this is what Bookworm meant by “civic participation” by conservatives:

Then again, this is the same Bookworm who later went on to gleefully post this:

An important message from Steve Schippert:

  • Leftists and terrorists have one thing in common: You can scream at ‘em, you can argue with ‘em, you can chase ‘em and you can even shoot ‘em. But for God’s sake, just don’t laugh at ‘em.

That would be this Steve Schippert, who runs “ThreatsWatch.org” — a far-right website devoted to suggesting that the only good Muslim is a macrowaved Muslim.

And in other news, liberals are a bunch of hate-filled poopyheads who can’t handle honest debate, and thus should be banned from government. Michelle Malkin said so.

The Teabagging Brownshirts Strike

Suddenly, it’s not funny anymore:

[Virginia Democratic Rep. Gerry] Connolly said he spoke to at least one freshman Democrat who was physically assaulted at a local event.

Well, that answers my question. Is this what Glenn Beck was so worried about?

These lobbyists are now officially inciting riots in order to scare Democrats into giving them what they want. They are, to put it simply, terrorists.

Sadly, not everyone gets it. Take Grover “Drown Government In The Bathtub” Norquist, for instance:

“The more civilly you ask the question, the more powerful it is,” Norquist said. “Nobody says go and scream. That’s the least effective thing you can do.”

Tell that to Bob MacGuffie, whose memo suggested that these Teabagging Brownshirts should be as disruptive and shrill as possible in order to “rattle” Democratic politicians and shut down reasoned debate.
